Heide Iravani

Heide founded and led a school-based chapter of the environmental group Free the Planet!, serving as a local organizer in a market-based campaign to protect forests in the southeast United States from destruction by the home development and paper products industries. Her group reached out to other local high schools, universities, and members of the community, and Heide became involved in the national planning and regional coordination of various campaigns that used non-violent direct action and media attention to convince multinational corporations to sell sustainably produced wood products.
