Angela Coryell
Baring, WA
As part of a high school communications class, Angela came up with the idea for, produced, and directed an award-winning documentary film called An Oily Sky, chronicling the history and hazards of century-old railroad fuel spills that have
contaminated soil and groundwater near her home and were seeping into a nearby river. The two-year project, which involved a crash course in filmmaking, drew public and media attention to an otherwise ignored problem, and garnered recognition from film festivals and politicians alike.
